Option 1: Joint License Agreement for Terminals (including modules)

The W-CDMA Patent Licensing Programme offers, for W-CDMA FDD terminals only, a Joint License Agreement (JLA) grouping together all relevant W-CDMA Essential Patents from several licensors. The JLA is being offered following a marketplace identified demand.

As further licensors join the W-CDMA Patent Licensing Programme, their W-CDMA Essential Patents will be covered by the license without a change in the terms & conditions thus preserving licensing and business certainty for the licensee.

The JLA is directed towards the vendors and manufacturers including OBMs, ODMs, OEMs and EMSs. The ultimate objective is to ensure that the "true" (actual) manufacturer of the terminal takes a license.
