W-CDMA Patent Licensing Programme

The W-CDMA Patent Licensing Programme was established to provide for fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory access to worldwide patent rights that are essential for the W-CDMA FDD 3GPP Standard. The W-CDMA FDD technology provides the most natural and cost effective migration path to 3G services for more than 75% of the world's wireless market.

The W-CDMA Patent Licensing Programme is offered as a convenience to the marketplace in providing fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory access to certified essential patents owned by several patent holders. Companies that use the 3GPP standards based on the W CDMA FDD technology need the essential patents rights the W-CDMA Patent Licensing Programme provides; it is the easiest, most cost effective way to obtain them. There are two main licensing options covering all Product Categories:

Option 1: Joint License Agreement for Terminals (including modules)

Option 2: Standard License Agreement for all five Product Categories
